In the Truth

He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. (KJV) ( 1 John 2:4

Having a relationship with Jesus will keep you grounded and leaning into a growing faith. A growing faith is a good sign. In a relationship, truth is spoken, conviction is felt, and confidence in God strengthens. Walk in the truth and obey God's commandments.  Was there a time in your life when you weren't living in the truth?  What were the circumstances?

Joe, Several years ago a blogger, faced with huge difficulties, took his own life, God rest his soul. His obesity was out of control and he suffered from clinical depression, stemming, his blog entries indicated, from his involvement with young (pre-16) boys and with drugs. The immediate cause for his suicide was a run-in with the police (for drug possession?) but I think he had just lost hope. I wept when he published his last entry announcing that he was going upstairs to take his life. I cannot, alas!, even recall his blog name (different from his real name which you gave on this blog). Can you elucidate, expand, amend all this? I would like to call closure. Roderick

Roderick, I believe you are talking about Jay M. He was a good friend of mine. I don’t remember drugs being involved but he was investigated for child porn, a charge I could never bring myself to believe. It was all so very sad. I remember the last post. I remember begging him in IM not to do it, but it was too late. I cried a lot over Jay’s death. His birthday by the way would be Wednesday.

Joe, Thanks for the swift reply. He was a keen radio ham and, if I recall right, lived in Pennsylvania. You wrote that he appreciated the poetry you post (as indeed I do). I am glad that drugs were not the cause for the police investigation but, as you may recall, when a young friend of his committed suicide, Jay insisted that he alone clean out his possessions for fear of what might be found, (although in fact nothing was found,) so I deduced drugs as well as boys. Poor soul. I will say a prayer for him on Wednesday. Thanks again, Roderick.

It took me a while to find it, but this is the post I wrote when he died: https://closetprofessor.blogspot.com/2015/09/goodbye-jay.html.

By the way, he was from Virginia not Pennsylvania. I believe the name of the blog was Jay in Virginia.

Joe, thanks for the information. Yes, that was, I think, the blog title. But the content of the entry from your blog refers to you and your present job, not to his death. I am grateful for the time and trouble you have taken and I regret if I have caused you grief by my inquiry, Roderick.
