Thanks for your honesty.

The point about not wanting to boast about intelligence rings true to me. I must have had a similar experience, overlaid with religious misunderstandings about humility and such, and always found it hard to intentionally "sell myself" in interviews. I never quite found the balance in there. St. Teresa, of course, reminds us that humility is truth. From her perspective it includes the truth about God's gifts to us as much as the truth about our own weaknesses.

At any rate, my husband Tom, his ex-wife and their adult children, speak casually and brutally about how smart they are and how not-so-smart some others are not. I discovered this quite by accident when having dinner with him and his two sons, in college at the time, when the older boy told his brother not to test me, I was too smart for it. I was flattered and alarmed at the same time.

Boy, that was a ramble! Hope today you are not carrying a heavy load of any sort.Michael Doddhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00942287172727040371noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5356114186987252972.post-53864038791404185382015-08-24T11:09:37.384-04:002015-08-24T11:09:37.384-04:00Hi Joe,

I never imagined two such unusual MC's could end up being so thoroughly entertaining. Being a literal type myself, I loved that part of Emmet's autistic behavior and the humor Heidi was able to show in his character. And Jeremey, with his underlying depression and anxiety; his unfolding story was heartbreaking, but beautifully told. I have now read this story several times and I still laugh out loud and cry at many of the passages. Thanks again, Joe, for giving us another of your excellent reviews of a very special story.Susanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15705603797740188813noreply@blogger.com
