He was killed, all his followers were dispersed, and it all came to nothing. 37 After him, Judas the Galilean appeared in the days of the census and led a band of people in revolt. He too was killed, and all his followers were scattered. 38 Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. 39 But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.”
(Acts 5:34-39)

I know that they cannot even conceive of the possibility that marriage equality could be from God; but even so, neither could the Sanhedrin -- the supreme leadership of the Jewish community at the time -- conceive of the possibility that the apostles could be from God.

And I have a feeling that the God Who Is Love can take care of all those people that God's alleged supporters are driving away from God. After all, I believe the idea is that God does not abandon those God loves, no matter what. It is not God who condemns but we who know so little about the inner working of another person's soul.Michael Doddhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00942287172727040371noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5356114186987252972.post-38432385587337006812015-06-28T14:26:12.186-04:002015-06-28T14:26:12.186-04:00I am religious in the sense that I firmly believe ...I am religious in the sense that I firmly believe in an afterlife and that Jesus is real. I try my best to live up to what Jesus taught, that is love of neighbor, charatable acts and kindness to our animal friends. I don't believe you will gain any brownie points by engaging in ritualistic prattle, thus I feel no need to join a church. It is all about deeds, not rituals.

I also firmly believe that Jesus is highly offended by those who hate in his name. Those people are going to be in for a big surprise when it is their turn to be judged!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5356114186987252972.post-26250254521850254932015-06-28T14:25:14.138-04:002015-06-28T14:25:14.138-04:00Just to add: when I said "several choices&quo...Just to add: when I said "several choices" I should have been clearer. I was raised, and still consider myself "Catholic," although I haven't attended that church for years, and cannot say I agree with much that they stand for anymore. I have a gay cousin who does like to attend church, but it is not a Catholic one; he and his partner could not find one that was accepting enough. They now live in Provincetown, though, so there were several choices that were quite welcoming. :)Susanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15705603797740188813noreply@blogger.com
