I saw this on Wicked Gay Blog and since I needed a quick post for today, I thought I'd copy it. I hope Dave won't mind. I've followed his blog for about five or six years and always love what I find there.
Age, Sex, Location....and if you would be so kind, how long have you been reading The Closet Professor and how did you hear about my blog? And maybe even a little about you. I think it would be really neat to get to know some of you better.
I will get us started!!!
My name is Joe, I am a male, I live in Alabama, and I have been following this blog from the first day I started it a little over 4 years ago. Oh, and I am a 36 years, high school social studies and English teacher and occasional part-time college instructor looking for full time employment as a college instructor.
Good morning, Joe. My name is Michael and I am 64. I grew up in the Church of Christ in East Texas but later became Catholic. I spent thirty happy years in a monastery as a priest. Then I decided it was time to move on. I worked for Catholic non-profits in Chicago for a while and later as a librarian. I am now retired and write. I have published three books and am working on a novel.
ReplyDeleteI met Tom after I left the community back in 2003. We have been together for ten years and were finally able to marry this past spring. We live on property that his family has owned in rural Wisconsin since the 1840s. We have two cats -- Sundance and Cassidy.
I have been following your blog for a year or so. It is something I look forward to as part of my regular morning routine.
May you be happy, well and free.
Hey, Joe! I'm Alan, I'm 52 and I live in Tennessee. Been Baptist most of my life (grew up Presbyterian for the first 9 years or so).
ReplyDeleteI've been reading your blog for probably 6 months or so and probably found it through another blog's link (sorry - I forget how exactly). I try to check every weekday morning.
I am a staff member (non faculty) in computer support for a college.

My name is Richard, I’m male and live in Denver, Colorado. I’ve been following this blog for about a year. I think I found your blog as link on another blog but not sure which one. I’m fifty-seven and have been single for two years after ending a twenty year relationship. I work for an IT consulting company. My customer is a global telecommunication company based in Silicon Valley with a major presence in Denver. I, thankfully, work from home most days.
ReplyDeleteHey Joe. My name is Ethan, I'll be 23 in a few weeks and live in Minneapolis. I am a recent college grad looking for my first job in my field of study. I have a boyfriend of almost a year and we are moving in together Labor Day weekend!! I've been following your blog for nearly a year and enjoy reading it daily. I think you're a great writer and your posts always teach me something new or give me something to reflect upon. :-)

Hi Joe. My name is Adon. I live in northern New England. I have been following your blog for at least a year. I believe it when I noticed that you had followed my blog, "Forever Silent" or I saw a that one of my followers followed yours as well and I checked you out (so to speak). I am in my mid sixties. I am married to a straight woman. I was middle aged before I accepted that I was gay. Life has been complicated since I came out to her but we are still together and happy. I would like to more open about myself to others but have decided at this time in my life to stand by my life decisions. I really enjoy your blog except you seem to be way smarter than me...Adon
ReplyDelete33, male, DFW, TX.
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Jean-Luc (in French like the Jean-Luc Picard of Star Trek Next Generation).
I am a 63yo ritired fine art teacher and I live in Montreal, Province of Quebec, Canada.
I am single since October 2011 and trying to continue my artwork: mainly acrylics on canvas.
Not much to say except that when you post too long texte it discourage me to read all of it.
I am a French speaking guy, maybe one of the reasons...
The other is that sometime I find your comments a bit too -religious- for me.
Also, as here in my country we have not much issues about being gay, those redondant pledge about being gay make me smile....
Sorry for my hard comments....
I understand though all of you concerns about being gay, christian etc.....
Friendly yours frome Montreal,Canada.
Hi there. I'm Ed, 56 and live in Palo Alto, CA near San Francisco. My husband and I have been together for 12 years. I do IT support for a major university in town. I think I have been reading your blog for almost a year.
ReplyDeleteJoe....Another Joe, here, over in Georgia as you know. Retired from the legal world, and now part time, three days per week, in a small local business. Do it to meet people and get out of the house.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the postings each day, especially the Sunday ones, for who knows how long here...forgot how I found your page, but glad I did.
Enjoy travel, stateside and Europe, Spain mainly - have not seen any rain on the plain there - and some trips to France and England as well.
Keep up the good work... Amazed that I am the senior, very senior, poster here today...low 70's shall we say? And that is not a golf score.
Hi Joe! ((hugs)) * waves to fellow blog followers*
ReplyDeleteMy name is Amanda, 37. I currently live in northeast TN. I have two boys (17 and 12). And I currently work in the medical field. I've been married for 18 yrs and we are working on some things.
I found your blog much like the others did through another blog over a year ago (Jay in Va) if I remember correctly. I read your posts everyday but don't always get to comment since life gets busy. I've enjoyed all your posts (especially Sunday's because it makes me feel good) and always look forward to what you're doing and how you're getting along in life. Sometimes you help others with your posts even if your don't realize it.
I love *meeting* new people and enjoy the openness of your posts and blog. Plus, you seem like the kind of guy who makes friends easily and doesn't mind having diversity among your circle of friends. :)
Hello Joe (and to everyone else). My name is RobFather. I’m a single bisexual 54 y.o. man living in Saginaw, Michigan but was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA.
ReplyDeleteI’m a retired and proud U.S. Navy 20-year veteran. For the past fourteen years I have been working as a producer and on-air announcer at three radio stations in the Saginaw area. I have a Saturday morning radio show where I play classic and “old school” soul, R&B, funk, pop and jazz music. I have a freelance business in basic computer repair. In my spare time I like to listen to music, blog, play chess or catch a movie. I am the loving and proud father to one very bright 18 y.o. son. He is my heart.
I found The Closet Professor one day via bisexual content website almost four years ago and have been a faithful reader and follower ever since. I have two blogs of my own in which I write things that are on my mind: “Keepin’ It…REAL!” (under WordPress) and “Masculine Perspectives” (under Blogger). I also have one Tumblr blog where I post photos and media content of male erotica: “Male Oriented Erotica & Perspectives”.
I always enjoy much of the content on this blog as well as the pictures of beautiful men to illustrate the subject you’re writing about, Joe.
Thanks for letting me share and please...continue the excellent work you do on this blog.
Hotep!
Hi, Joe! I am Jay (for now), male, 55, gay, living near Richmond, VA.

Jay
Howdy! I'm MAC, 44, M, TX.

ReplyDelete27, M, So.Cal
Teacher, partnered for nearly 5 years
Been following your blog since about the time you started I believe. Enjoy the history and hearing about you.
Age: 42
ReplyDeleteSex: Male
Location: central Iowa
I'm a middle school teacher, married to my husband for 4 years now, but been together for 19. Love to read, cook, trivia, volleyball and travel
Greetings.
ReplyDeleteMy name is Paul. I'm almost 57 and live in St. Louis, MO.
I've worked in an hospital's clinical blood lab for a few decades and probably have another decade to go before I can comfortably retire.
I've been happily single for a long, long time and am doing nothing to change that. I realize I'd be something of a trial for a significant other to endure and I'd prefer we both be happier than that. I did know all-consuming passion once in my youth, but I found it to be ultimately more self-destructive than self-affirming. I suppose I'd consider myself open to the idea of a new relationship, but I'm too much of a realist to consider one likely.
I like hanging with my friends, hiking, camping, playing games - especially cards, dining out, shootin' the shit. I'm also perfectly content to be by myself reading - fiction, poetry, news, trivia, science..., web-surfing, playing the piano, gardening, avoiding chores. I like to cook, but I'm not particularly gifted in that department. Luckily, if you share scratch-baked cookies with your acquaintances, people will think you're a fabulous chef anyway.
I'm pretty bad with dates. I don't think I can recall when I first came across your blog, but I remember I was looking for information on St. Sebastian and Google led me to a post of yours. I spent weeks browsing through some of your articles, especially enjoying the ones related to ancient Greece and Rome. I'm probably coming up on a year of readership.
I was reared Roman Catholic (and not in the fun way) but left the church years ago when the pendulum started on its current conservative upswing. I think of myself as being spiritually inclined, but I'm afraid Jesus would be 'spitting me out of his mouth' (What was I doing in there anyway?)
I'm much more a dog person than cat but I'd never want the burden of responsibility that comes with such a pet. I'm much more comfortable with houseplants. No one demonizes you if you kill one due to neglect. Some people find that to be an endearing commonality.
Obviously I enjoy reading(most of)your posts. Thank you for your efforts in researching, writing and sharing them.
Hey, Joe! My name is Dean. I am 63 years of age. I was born and reared in New Jersey, but have lived in Florida most of my life. I was brought up in the Presbyterian church, but ever since reading all the gospels once in a hospital I have come to regard all religion as utter nonsense. I do, however, enjoy your thoughtful analyses of scripture.
ReplyDeleteI especially like your posts on poets and authors. My education on them is sketchy, so you are helping to complete my education on literature.
I have been single after a 13 year relationship ended peacefully. I am a part-time teacher but make my living training dogs and horses.
I have been following your blog for at least three years. I hope you eventually find a full-time position where you can be out. You will be ever so much happier.
Hey Joe, I'm a little late on responding to this post but I enjoy reading your blog so I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Jeremy & I'm a 23 year old portrait artist living in South Florida.
ReplyDeleteI started my blog about four years ago and remember finding yours through mutual bloggers about two years ago or so.
Late to answer but a busy summer! I am Daniel. I live in Missouri. I work in Advertising. I am single and 49. Big Cardinal fan! I am Jewish but for me it is more a "culture" than a religion. I like your insightful posts and your history lessons! Not so much on the religion but I respect your passion for it. I have been following you site since the start...
