Weekend Migraine

I’ve had a migraine since Friday. I left work early Friday and the migraine lingered all weekend. At times, it wasn’t as painful, but at other times, it was excruciating. Everywhere I laid my head felt like I was lying on a rock. The only thing I could do to help was try and sleep. I hope it’s better today. I’ll be the only one at the museum. Our secretary doesn’t work on Monday, our other curator is away at a conference, and my boss’s two children have COVID.

  1. As a long time fellow sufferer of migraines, I pass my hopes that you will feel better. The after-effects can be as uncomfortable too. Been there. The neurologist that I am seeing has me on a preventive program which involves a monthly injection (self-administered) and an "emergency" medication to head one off if it gets started, and this is working well. Wish we had these medications sooner in my lifetime.
There are several new medications now. Perhaps a check with a neurologist?

  2. I see a neurologist at Dartmouth's Headache Clinic, and I currently take botox injections every 12 weeks. I tried the once a month injection but reacted badly to them. The Botox often helps, at least they usually aren't this bad, but the weather changes up here have been pretty dramatic, and that usually triggers them no matter what I do.

  3. I've only had headaches or migraines or something similar but excruciatingly painful for a few weeks in my entire life. It all started with the extraction of a tooth with a root that was too large and that caused me serious problems, among them those tremendous headaches. I slept with everything in the dark and there was no solution. The medication they had given me did little to solve the problem. I had never felt such immense and invalidating pain in my life.
Luckily, an internist prescribed a vitamin complex for me and despite my disbelief, those pains gradually disappeared.
Currently I very rarely have a headache and I notice that in addition to having those annoying headaches, they are getting softer, which I am very happy about.
When I read about your migraines, it reminds me of those distant days when a damn tooth triggered those terrible headaches that caught my eye and if it started to hurt while I was on the street, I had to find a taxi to get there as quickly as possible. to my house. The journey was terrible any braking or pothole or acceleration was a kind of kick in my head.
I feel very supportive of all those who suffer from these horrible headaches because I have only suffered from them for a few weeks but you never know when a new headache is going to arrive and I hope and wish that you soon find a really effective treatment and that very Soon that suffering will be history.
Good luck and don't forget that a good diet eliminating chocolates, spicy foods, sausages and some other things that I don't remember can help you stay free of pain.
A big hug for Joe and for all of you who have the same condition.
