I grew up near beaches. Although I learned to swim in a pool, I did most of my swimming at a beach near my home. Very few people went there, and we youngsters could climb on the rocks, turn over stones to look for little crabs, and swim in the chilly water of the Atlantic Ocean. It took a minute to adjust to the water, but then it was okay.
