TGIF

I’m so happy it’s Friday. It wasn’t that it’s been a particularly difficult week, because it hasn’t. However, I’m looking forward to dinner with a friend tonight. Sometimes, it’s just nice to put on a nice outfit and go out. Plus, we are going to one of my favorite restaurants, Waterworks. It’s always been my opinion that Vermont doesn’t have many outstanding restaurants, but this one is nice. Waterworks is in an old textile mill overlooking the Winooski River. Not only does it have a great view but also a great atmosphere. I can’t wait.

  1. The restaurant looks nice https://www.tripadvisor.fr/Restaurant_Review-g57475-d7372552-Reviews-Waterworks_Food_Drink-Winooski_Vermont.html and it is much appreciated.
    The card is appetizing .
Be careful, do not drink too much and do not fall into the river which looks dangerous to me.

  2. I won’t drink too much or fall in, uvdp. However, they have a wonderful wine, Henri Perrusset Mâcon Farges Chardonnay, that is probably my favorite thing about this restaurant, and the Lobster & Shrimp Scampi is pretty tasty too.

  3. Joe,

My internet has been out most of the day due to upgrades to the network.

It's about 6:30 PM your time. Hope you had a great dinner with your friend.

    My choices:

    Waterworks Steak Frites
8oz Boston strip. miso butter. garlic fries.

    Peanut Butter Pie
warm fudge. Reese's crumble. whipped cream.

Throw in an iced tea-no lemon-or a diet soda of some kind

I don't recall having peanut butter pie. I am set.

The atmosphere looks cozy and rustic. I like it.

    Have a great weekend.

    Best of health,

    Victor

  5. Victor, the meal you listed is what my friend got last time we went. She advises not to get a steak from here, and while the peanut butter pie was good, she’s had other desserts there better. The flourless chocolate cake is really good though very rich. We had the garlic fries as an appetizer, and they were truly delicious. I’m not a huge fan of french fries, but these were some of the best I’ve ever had. I got the lobster and shrimp scampi as planned, and my friend decided to go with some “small plates”: the veggie potstickers and the burrate (she loved them both). For dessert, I had the cheesecake with a blackberry mojito compote (they could have left off the mojito part, but the cheesecake was divine), and she had the flourless chocolate cake. Also, we split a bottle of the Henri Perrusset Mâcon Farges Chardonnay. It was all excellent as was the company. We laughed and had a “gay ole time.”
