On Halloween in 1984, I was attending a program at St. Louis University for people like me who worked training new members for their religious orders (Franciscans, Jesuits, etc). There were 50 men and women, from twenty countries and representing thirty groups of priests, brothers and sisters. One of the sisters always wore her modern habit and veil. When we had our Halloween party, she came in jeans and a blouse, hair uncovered, with a sign hung around her neck: Normal Person. She was the belle of the ball.
