October
By Helen Hunt Jackson
Bending above the spicy woods which blaze,
Arch skies so blue they flash, and hold the sun
Immeasurably far; the waters run
Too slow, so freighted are the river-ways
With gold of elms and birches from the maze
Of forests. Chestnuts, clicking one by one,
Escape from satin burs; her fringes done,
The gentian spreads them out in sunny days,
And, like late revelers at dawn, the chance
Of one sweet, mad, last hour, all things assail,
And conquering, flush and spin; while, to enhance
The spell, by sunset door, wrapped in a veil
Of red and purple mists, the summer, pale,
Steals back alone for one more song and dance.
PS Our friend JiEL was able to enhance to enhance the picture above to give it some truer color. The window pains had muted the colors a bit.

Spectacular!! You're just a week ahead of us in foliage. Enjoy!!
Even this "fuzzy" format is beautiful, Joe. Just one more perk to add to the list, "Why I'm glad I moved to Vermont!"
Matt and Susan, I have been told that I arrived at the best time of the year, when Vermont is at its most beautiful.
I just returned from attending a Wedding in New England.. actually Groton Mass. Went along the coast to Portland ME... didn't see more than a dozen trees in Autumn color.. Just my luck.. I envy you. I'll have to take a ride up to Breckenridge this weekend to make up for it.
Having grown up in East Texas, I never knew how beautiful fall could really be until I went off to Michigan State University. Then when I moved to New England ... wow!
You may now be close to heaven!!!
So nice pic and you'll see more of what Vermont nature can offer you as beauties...
Up here in Montreal and Quebec city where I went last week the colors aren't quite on yet. Almost the same as yours...
This year they're late to come...
So happy you enjoy those first days of discovery....
Friendly yours.
I'm happy to put my humble contribution to your nice blog.
BTW, I use a simpler photo software than «Photoshop» to process most of my pics.
For many years now I use «ACDSee» which is quite convivial and does most of pics alterations needed like hue, light, contrast, size and more...
Now every fan of your blog can see the wonderful colors of Vermont's autumn.
Friendly yours
I was in Vermont this summer. Would love to travel through there now as the fall colors appear. Vermont is full of beauty, even in the summer. Full of history, too.
You are now officially a leaf peeper!
What a view to have at your new home. The colors have just started to turn here. Enjoy the fall there and let us know giw everything goes!
Welcome to New England.
