Blue

I’ve had a bad migraine for two days, and my hand is still hurting. I know part of the migraine is being caused by emotions that I just don’t want to talk about. I’d probably feel better if I did, but sometimes talking about things just make it worse, for me at least, especially when it’s something beyond my control. I’m flying to Alabama tomorrow, and I’m dreading every bit of it. There is absolutely nothing that I’m looking forward to while I’m there. So, I’m a bit blue at the moment.

It also doesn’t help that I have to go to the dentist this morning. I hate going to the dentist.

Sorry about your headache Joe and your dread of your visit home. As a gay man you somehow tired of people keeping you trapped in a box and outed yourself. You said fir all to hear who you really were. Sadly there are people who always want to keep us prisoners of their own beliefs. Step up Joe and free yourself again from the tyranny of your family which is so toxic. We're all behind you. Hope you find some joy at Christmas. Peace, Jim

Must say I think Bob B's advice is a good option. I know lately, after many years, I say no now to things that I dread doing. In the past I always tried to please. Sometimes that's just not healthy and just isn't worth it.

Sorry I'm the one who posted the last post commenting on Bob B. Didn't realize I forgot to include my name.

At least your visit to your parents will come to a definite end. You can count the days and hours until you will be out of there.

Would it help to be prepared to say at some unpleasant point something along the lines of "It's stuff like this that makes me not want to come here anymore. If you want me to visit again you'll have to learn not to say things like that and to be grateful for my presence," and maybe add something along the lines of BobofDurham's second paragraph?

You're very good to keep communication open with your family despite all the heartache they've caused you. It's truly Christian of you.

Very much agree. We can’t spend time w everyone. We have to choose how we spend the limited time we have in our lives. Choose those who uplift and enhance you….not those who would tear you down…even if they are blinded by their bigotry. You deserve so much better.
