Pic of the Day

Hello & Good Evening, Joe

There is always something deeply relaxing about any beach scenes, a stormy looking sky, utter solitude and being casually naked at the water’s edge. This scene is the essence of a “Moment of Zen” and its tranquility. The picture took me back to my late adolescence youth — more than 35 yrs ago — summers in North Bay, Ontario.

The connection: I recently finished an audible book entitled “The Norther Reach” by W. S. Winslow (2021). The story revolves around a family’s torment by the loss of a father and son in the midst of an unexpected gale and storm.

The widow/mother focuses her hostile grief on the surviving son, who barely escapes the ships destruction. Throughout the novel, the family’s matriarch begins hallucinating about seeing the sunken ship just over the horizon, and her deceased family members.

Today’s picture brought the book to mind.

Apology: I inadvertently got a case of writers “itch” on the commuter train going home this evening…and a bit long in the tooth.

Be well & safe.

Anon. I had seriously considered using this picture as a Moment of Zen, but other than sexy surfer dudes, I know very little about surfing, which is the assumption I made about the guy in the pic. Also, no need to ever apologize for a long comment.

The book is called “The Northern Reach.” My iPhone typing & editing skills — especially on this swaying train — leave much to be desired (lol).
