Moment of Zen: Running

I personally don’t like to run, but I love watching other guys run.

The irony is that while road running is good for the cardio-vascular, the constant stress on the knees really damages them in the long-term, as any orthopaedic surgeon will confirm.

Years ago the British Army made soldiers run in boots with no cushioning insoles. Not surprisingly, significant numbers of soldiers reported ankle and knee problems. Then the military took note from the medics and bought a batch of Reebocks and, no surprise, the injury rate declined a great deal.

If you want to run long distances, buy the best specialist shoes and preferably run on grass rather than pavements.

I never was attracted to running or jogging but I always beeb a swimmer which is a better physical activity.
In my college time, at 19-21yo, I was in the college swimming and water polo teams. Not surprising that I also did my squba diver lessons and join the group.

After in my 40yo I was swimming 2km twice a week in less than 45 minutes which kept me in shape.

Not forgetting that men in speedo are very sexy and the shower and locker room time is not to miss...

JiEL eres genial.

Swimming is probably the best sport for stamina and endurance training and imposes fewer dangerous stresses on the limbs. It often does wonders for the shoulder muscle development. Look at any keen butterfly stroke swimmer!

Back in 2012 at the London OLympics a friend of mine volunteered to be a supporter and ended up looking after the changing room and showers of the US swimming team. Lucky chap!!

@Angel
Sorry but I couldn't really understand what you wrote as i don't speak or read Spanish.
I find it a bit bizarre as in many blogs Spanish people think everyone can read them as English is more an universal language.

I'm sure if I write in my mother language, French, you would have the same difficulty even if both of our languages are from latin and greek.

@Michael Lucifer,

Your right as if you could see my back even at 73yo, I still have my »V» swimmer shape and much of those muscles you told on.
