The Week Ahead

I’m sitting here early on a Monday morning contemplating the week ahead. There isn’t much on my agenda at work this week, except for Friday which will be a long day. My week will basically consist of a few meetings scattered throughout the week, some projects I need to finish up, and a full day and evening of meetings on Friday. Like last Friday, I’ll be heading into work at 7:30 am, and it’s doubtful that I’ll get home much before 9 pm that night.

At least the evening meeting is at a nice restaurant with great food. It’s rare that I get to go to this restaurant two weeks in a row. I’m looking forward to the Salmone Cucina, which they describe as “wood roasted salmon with artichokes, red peppers, lemon, and capers in a white wine sauce served with risotto.” I’ll probably also get dessert which will either be their Chocolate Ganache Cake or the Lemon Italian Cream Cake, both of which are very good. I had the Salmone Cucina with the Lemon Italian Cream Cake last Friday. I usually get that because it’s an Italian restaurant, and the pasta dishes are not really something you can eat gracefully.

Other than Friday, the rest of the week should be fairly easy going (knock on wood). I wish we had today off since it’s Presidents’ Day, but like most universities and museums, we don’t take Presidents’ Day as a holiday.

I hope all of you have a wonderful week ahead!

1/ Are you bearded Joe? Did you modify the photo with this strange little white spot between the legs? Cf Tartuffe of Moliere : "hide this" penis "that I can't see" .
2/ You ate at the same time, the Salmone Cucina with the Lemon Italian Cream Cake ? In France, we believe Americans are capable of anything...

I do have facial hair, but mine is more gray these days. The stop of white appears to be the sheet strategically placed. I had the Salmon Cucina as my miain course (we had a salad with a balsamic vinaigrette before the main course), and afterwards, I had the Lemon Italian Cream Cake along with a cup of coffee for dessert.

If I were going to be there, I think I'd order the Vitello alla Marsala with either the Insalata Cesare or the Mista for starters, and the Tiramisu for dessert if I still had room — and of course coffee just as it comes from mother nature (i.e., no cream or sugar).

Oops! This is a Friday in Lent. No meat for this Catholic. I'd also have the salmone cucina.

naturgesetz : since the Second Vatican Council, the prescriptions for Catholics have softened :
- no fasting before the age of 14 and after the age of 60, code of canon law 1252
- abstinence: not necessarily from meat, code of canon law 1251

uvdp —Thanks for your comment. My original comment was actually an oblique suggestion to Joe about some other menu items.
Your familiarity with the Code of Canon Law is impressive. Here in the U.S. the bishops decided to allow Catholics to choose another form of penance on Fridays outside of Lent instead of abstinence from meat. Unfortunately, the part most people got was that abstinence was no longer required, and they missed the part about having to choose another form of penance. That's why I made the point about Lent. I wouldn't want Catholic readers to get the impression I was ignoring the applicable rule.
