Disappointed

My big lecture event did not go as planned. Most everything went without any problems; however, attendance was awful. Though we were promised that the cadets would be strongly encouraged to attend, not a single one did. No students at all showed up. I’m not only upset, I am angry. When the university has speakers, students are usually required to go, yet we did not get any support from the administration. This was an extremely important topic for our cadets, and the program was ignored. I was so embarrassed.

I am sorry to hear this. After all your high hopes, planning and preparation too. Sometimes things in life just do not go well. Fortunately, we do get over it, but for now, I am thinking of you and hoping that things get better.

It's a shame you did not get the support you deserved from the administration. They are the ones who should be embarrassed mot you.

Joe, students attend lectures that turn them on - topics that are important do not automatically do so. Also I feel that there exists an element in the administration which enjoys snubbing you. Roderick

i can understand you to be upset about your half success in that lecture with such an important lady doing a lot for the humanity cultural history.

As an retired fine art teacher, I often had to justify how important is «Art» in our lives and civilisation. For youngsters what is in the past isn't that appealing and often they reject it thinking that THEY are the most important. They usually Don't understand that if they live in peace and such a «now» world, it's because many people lived before them.

Don't blame you but blame this ignorant youth and also that none cooperative administration of your university which is going against the real mission of a university which is to promote knowledge and understanding humanity.

The battle of education in USA is a never ending story and such surprising from here when we all know how USA did so many great things in the past and still do now.

It is on them...You did your best...A dialog with the administration is in order...Speak only to the person that can say yes...An administrative assistant will not cut it...

Sometimes things go wrong even if we give our best...
You should speak with the administration and explain what went wrong, so in future this sad moment doesn't occur again! :S

Big hug

No doubt a sports event claimed priority.

All you can do is offer to teach. The school should have a required minimum , with sign ups. Its like hosting a party you provide the venue but no guarantee of show ups... Whats this about young cadets around and your still single???
