Receiving Compliments

Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. (KJV) ( 1 Thessalonians 5:11

While encouraging others is part of following God, how you receive those encouraging words is just as important. Instead of responding with a negative reaction that promotes lack of confidence, accept it gracefully with a simple thank you or one with sincere gratitude. God made you in his image and values your every thought and presence.

Okay, Joe, here's a compliment. It is heart warming to contrast your unhappiness and your resentment in teaching at that private school, existing when I started to read you, with your present confidence and capacity visible in the handling your new job. (It would be nice if you were back in Dixie and had a partner, but one can't ask for everything.) Roderick
