It’s been a rough one.
This weekend has been full of pain—head, back, and stomach—and not the kind that fades with a good night’s sleep. The headache is, unfortunately, part of my usual chronic migraine pattern. For me, pain doesn’t like to travel alone. When something flares up in my body, it often invites a migraine along for the ride. And this time, it brought friends.
For the past week or so, I’ve been dealing with lower back pain. It ebbs and flows—sometimes tolerable, sometimes so intense I can barely move around the house. I’ve had worse episodes in the past, but that doesn’t make this one any easier. I’ve been using a heating pad, and while it gives me temporary relief, it’s just that—temporary.
To make matters worse, a bout of stomach pain decided to join the party. No clue if the three are connected or just coinciding at the most inconvenient time. Either way, it’s made for a miserable few days.
Today, I’m taking a sick day. I need to rest, let the heating pad do its magic, and take a muscle relaxer to see if I can ease this back pain. If I’m not better tomorrow, I’ll be giving my doctor a call. I know when it’s time to stop pushing through and start taking care of myself properly.
I hope your Monday is starting out much better than mine. Wishing each of you a healthy, pain-free start to the week.

Joe, you should see a doctor right away if you still have these pains; they must not become permanent.
Back pain and stomach pain . Together seems different. Could be uti or kidney infection.
Could you have hurt your back while working out with Neo?
Feel better Joe.
I concur with Butch, the combination could be an infection.
No dejes de acudir a tu médico por favor y mantennos informados. José te envío toda mi energía positiva. Un abrazo (sin hacerte daño en tus lumbares).

So, are you feeling better? You said you would keep us abreast of the situation. Sounds like a pulled muscle. Best give workouts a break. Cold works best. Try 1/3 rubbing alcohol and 2/3 water. Put it in a zip lock bag. Put that in a larger zip lock bag in case of a spill. It will not freeze but remain supple to bend over an arm or leg. Use for 20 minutes. Put a cloth next to your body. Then when done, put it back in the freezer. Heat will foster more infection if your trouble is an infection. Deep tissue massage is best if you can find a sport’s massage therapist but rest will do wonders, as well.
Thanks, Jack. I’ll give the alcohol/water mixture a try. The abdominal pain is better, my back pain is a bit worse, I’m afraid. I have an appointment for a deep tissue massage on Tuesday, but unless there is major improvement by in the morning, I’ll be calling my doctor’s office. I’ve also put the workouts on hold until this is better, but I really want to get back to the gym. (Now that’s a sentence I never thought I’d say. 😂)
