I was a bit yesterday, so I couldn't really think of anything to blog about today. Instead, I thought I would ask you guys a question.
Since school is out, I have a little more time to read, though I am also working on finishing my dissertation this summer, so it is not a lot of time to read. So here is my question to you guys:
Do you have any suggestions for a good lighthearted read? I'm not looking for anything too serious, so I would appreciate any suggestions.

If you like mysteries, check out the Russell Quant series by Anthony Bidulka. He's a gay private eye in Saskatchewan, Canada whose cases take him to an exotic locale in each book. They're well written, funny, suspenseful, and the characters are great.
Hey Joe,
It is not lighthearted, by any means.. but my go to book to read ( which I have re-read often) is what I consider one of the great American Novels.
James Baldwin's GIOVANNI'S ROOM.
Anything by George Baxt, Tom Sharpe or Patrick Dennis (especially "Little Me" if you can find it). Happy Summer reading.
I like this concept. I visited your blog for the first time and just been your fan. Keep posting as I am gonna come to read it everyday.
If you like German literature (or maybe you will learn to like it) read "buddenbrooks" of Heinrich Mann. A wonderful historical witness of the life in Germany before 1900. A family story which is funny, dramatic, sensitive, touching ...
Enjoy and let me know your opinion afterwards.
Pick up Jenny Lawson's memoir "Let's Pretend This Never Happened." You'll laugh your ass off.
Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier is always my first suggestion to anyone asking what they should read.
Sailing the Dream, by Mike Perham
The Hitman's Guide to Housecleaning by Hallgrimur Helgason
