Yesterday's post about anticipating cold weather and how it's been a mild winter in Vermont wasn't taken as tongue in cheek by everyone as expected. Then again, people don't always (if ever) get my sense of humor. It's a little odd the things I find funny. Anyway, yesterday's post was supposed to be a bit fun.
While today is Friday, I'm not looking forward to the weekend. It will be another lonely weekend. I do not plan on leaving my warm cozy apartment this weekend. I definitely don't plan to walk to church Sunday morning in -12 degree temperatures. As I'm writing this the wind chill outside is -17 degrees and the actual temperature is a whopping 0. When this blog piece posts, it is supposed to be -3. I do have to go outside tomorrow, and honestly, I don't mind. However, with the temperature predicted to be dangerously low with wind chills of (now they are predicting) -20 to -30, I think I'll stay in. Maybe I will do some house cleaning, or maybe I'll just stay in my warm bed and read. Our friend Susan has given me a list of books to read, and I might as well get to reading them.
What are your plans for the weekend? Is this arctic blast supposed to reach you? When I told a friend of mine what the wind chill was last night, she happily said that it was 70 degrees where she was in Louisiana. Her other comment was "Holy shit, that's cold." I'd still rather be cold than hot, and besides, I like winter fashions over summer fashions.
PS Speaking of winter fashions, I have yet to buy the requisite Vermont flannel shirt that seems to be the uniform here. I'm just not a flannel kind of guy.

Do try to hold off on the so-called requisite flannel shirt as long as possible. :) But the brisk walk to church on Sunday I would heartily recommend. I know you will feel a tremendous sense of accomplishment, and your reward will be there waiting for you.
Juste enjoy those «coocooning» winter's times.... Hot chocolate, a good book and the warmth of nice bed sheets..
Sure that having a BF to cuddle should help too but, must do without for now..
It'll be coming for you one day.
So be aware that as Spring will arrive, you'll be able to explore and enjoy the nice outdoors scenery of Vermont and more...
Must warn you that our Summer times can be VERY HOT too... In those times, bathing in a nice lake or river (naked for sure) is awesome...
So, have a nice «coocooning» weekend.
Happy Valentine too. (((( HUGS ))))
PS. I had already my Valentine gift as my cute Kim, 23yo, came to my place last Tuesday to spend the night with me... He arrived at 16h and we had MANY itimate moments, a good supper and early bed time too... He's so sweet and such a sweet and nice kisser... He made my day and week...
Don't get taken in by that 'wind chill' bs that weatherpersons love to crow about. They will gladly admit that it is the perceived temperature on your bare skin. Well, don't expose your bare skin to the wind (any more than is necessary.) A nice scarf around your neck and lower face does wonders, as does a parka. A friend who grew up in the Dakotas also told me to make sure your winter coat covers your bottom. You can laugh at short trips through cold temps if you're properly attired---enjoy them even!
I'm staying in most of this cold weekend. They are saying -22 for Toronto which is too cold for this guy. Except for a Valentine's Day dinner with the husband I'm thinking lots of naked bed time under the blankets :)
Because wind chill refers to the feel of wind on bare skin, as Paul said, it's a good idea to have a balaklave to cover your entire head, including face, and neck.
I'll be going to church — a three minute walk — no balaklava, but long underwear top and bottom, scarf, gloves, furlike hat w/ earflaps. I was thinking of going to a vocal concert in Boston, but I'll stay home and, hopefully, pay bills. Brother will be here; I'll cook beef stew. Etc.
