The Joys of Babysitting

Last night for the first time, my sister let me babysit my niece who turns six years old today.  I've never understood why my sister does not let me babysit, but she never has.  It's always kind of hurt my feelings, but after my mother made a big deal over it, she finally asked me to babysit while she and her husband went out for their anniversary.  It's hard to believe that she's been married to that asshole for fifteen years.

My niece was so excited to have Uncle Joe spending the evening with her that she was beside herself with anticipation.  She loves her Uncle Joe almost as much as I love her.  When I got there she wanted to play school.  She is obviously liking school, even if her parents were afraid she wouldn't. Why else would she want to play school, if she didn't enjoy it?  So we played school; I cooked supper; we watched a little Disney Jr; we drew shapes and pictures; and I read to her.  We had a fantastic time.

I was exhausted when I left, but also exhilarated at getting a chance to spend some one-on-one time with my beautiful, sweet, and intelligent niece.  We had such a great time. I love that little girl.

P.S. The picture above is of Ryan Phillippe with his daughter Ava Elizabeth, spending quality time out at the beach.

That's wonderful - she'll always remember these special times. I am the oldest of almost 50 grandkids. I was 9 when the rest started being born. I was holding, feeding, burping, changing diapers and babysitting from the day they came home - I have tons of exp but no kids whcih is a shame as I'm very natural with them and visa versa My sister was #2 but we're too close in age for me to have really taken care of her.

I'm happy that this finally occured.

Children are pure and give us so much too.. As well as we give them.

I'm a father of 3 grown up adult.
I'm a grand-father since January 12 2011 and my grand son, Edouard (Edward in French) is so «alive» and always smiling too.

I go often to baby sit him too.
My eldest son, father of Edouard, is my best friend even after the divorce in 1999 and my coming out.
His wife too is adorable and is very at ease with my gay life.
She has an uncle, close to her, that is gay too....

So, gay uncles are a plus to nephews and nieces..

Take all those moments in your heart and be sure that your little niece will also sherish them like you do.

Have a nice day.

Since you returned an alive, in one piece daughter to them, they'll probably trust you again!

Thinking the worst, if they don't know you're gay, then they could easily make the stupid assumption that all single men are perverts who want to ravage young girls (or children in general). I hate people who think that way, but there's a whole boatload of them out there.

Glad you had a good time, and yeah, it's exhausting!!!

Peace <3
